Trip Details and Itinerary
APRIL 23-27, 2018
We will spend 5 days in Washington, D.C. and Virginia this year. While in D.C., we will see The United States Capitol Building, Iwo Jima, FDR, Jefferson, Korea, Vietnam, Lincoln, Air Force Memorial, Pentagon Sept. 11 Memorial, WWII and many others including Arlington National Cemetery where OVMS students have been selected to participate in the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; a very prestigious honor. We also tour the Holocaust Museum along with the Smithsonian Museums, Newseum and Spy Museum. I will try and squeeze in the National Gallery to show students the only DaVinci in the western hemisphere. While in Virginia, we visit Mt. Vernon (my personal favorite), boat cruise down the Potomac and we will go on a Ghost Tour in Old Town Alexandria.
We leave on a Monday; early morning and arrive around 3 in the afternoon. On the return; we leave around 4 or 5 pm and arrive at night around 10pm. This is just a sample; things change and we adjust accordingly.
Students sleep 4 to a room in two beds so yes, that means two students sharing one bed. The facilities we stay at are nice, clean and well secured. We eat three squares a day and with it being a buffet, the kids are never hungry! Typically, students tell me that $100 is enough for spending money but of course that depends on the student.
